Just a Feeling: Music Is My Film.
In the English language—for all its complexities—there are words that could serve one so well, but that do not exist, and one of those would be attached to the feeling a person has after a significant set of events flips their world upside down. That quiet and profound moment of reflection once you finally catch your breath is nameless. This quiet Wednesday afternoon is that moment, and I don't have a word for it, and that is alright because the sun should come crashing down any minute now, and I am so happy.
The last few weeks have been insane in the best of ways. I traveled to New Orleans for the first time and had an absolute blast, I made it out to Los Angeles for a fun convention, have had steady freelance work, started writing for two music publications, and most importantly, I have spent a lot of time with family. Few times in my life have I had so many great things happen to me all at once, and I could not be more grateful, it has been one blessing after the next. I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart that I am at last becoming who I was meant to be, maybe it is the whole new decade new me thing, but who cares, I like it.
I feel just as passionate about music as ever before and thanks to this blog—and the other publications I write for now—I am always immersed in it. From exploring the NYC music scene to writing album reviews, I am exposed to new music daily and honestly what more could I want? I am living my movie, writing it and directing it as I see fit, and music provides the film for it. I often tell friends how important it is to chase your dreams and passions because if you do they may just come true. If I can wake up each day and go after what I want, then you can too.
"If you have a dream, you have a responsibility to yourself to make it come true... Because if you don't, you're just a dreamer," said world-renowned chef Marco Pierre White once, and he could not have been more right. I started this blog to discover artists, who like me will do anything it takes to be who they want to be, to display for all to see their passions no matter the cost. This blog is still very much about all of that, more than ever really. Some things do not need words; they are meant to be felt and only that.
